Brilliant time tonight watching Years & Years perform an acoustic set at Union Chapel, in aid of Shelter. Olly Alexander has the most incredible voice and is also a very talented pianist – just those two things combined would have kept me entertained all night, but he and the band had other plans, including duets with Wolf Alice, Kwabs, Rae Morris and Blossoms – all of whom shone. Oh, and a surprise appearance by Melanie C. I mean: Melanie C.!!! We couldn’t believe our eyes – and she was great, duetting with Olly on a Christmassy verson of ‘2 Become 1’ which left us all with a lump in our throats. A truly special gig, raising money for a very important cause – this is a night which will stay in the memory for a very long time.
