A night out with Midge Ure at Union Chapel

Midge Ure

Midge Ure. 80s icon, Band Aid co-founder – and possessor of one of the greatest voices I’ve ever had the privilege to hear live. And in the perfect setting, too – Islington’s intimate and beautiful Union Chapel; his voice literally did soar to the rafters as we sat there, entranced. Loved his support act, India Electric Company, who also played alongside him – two incredibly talented musicians.

As for the music – well, it was the perfect blend of older songs and newer material, incorporating Visage and Ultravox as well as the solo stuff – this man has quite the back catalogue. And what a perfect encore ‘Vienna’ made: after all these years it still has the power to send a shiver down the spine.
