An uplifting afternoon in the company of the Bach String Quartet

At a lovely concert this afternoon with Noriko: the Bach String Quartet performing Haydn’s String Quartet No. 66 in G, Op. 77 No. 1 Hob.III:81 Lobkowitz and Ullman’s String Quartet No. 3, Op. 46. This is a brand-new quartet, formed by musicians from the Royal College of Music and Guildhall: Emmanuel Bach (violin), Gabriella Jones (violin), Henrietta Hill (viola) and Joe Davies (cello). All four of the musicians are so talented (and so young!); they play beautifully together and, I’m sure, will go on to achieve great things.

It was my first visit to Kings Place and I will definitely be returning; what a lovely space this is, suited not just to music but to pretty much any other form of the arts. It’s in a perfect location, too – overlooking Regent’s Canal and just a few minutes’ walk from King’s Cross and St Pancras stations.
